Sydney - Ayers Rock - Alice Springs – Cairns

DAY 1     ARRIVE SYDNEY
  
Arrive into Sydney from your flight and be greeted at the airport by your local driver before transferring to your hotel
The rest of the day is yours at leisure
Sydney, the capital of New South Wales and Australia’s largest metropolitan city, is well known for it’s beautiful natural harbour, the famous Opera House and the spectacular Harbour Bridge
Take the rest of the afternoon as an opportunity to explore around the city or take a relaxing stroll in Hyde Park

DAY 2      SYDNEY

Be picked up from the hotel this morning departing on a tour which best captures the essence of Sydney. The Sydney highlights, Manly and Northern Beaches tour along with a delightful luncheon cruise on beautiful Sydney Harbour with Matilda Cruises
Sight-seeing includes:
*  Spectacular views of Cockle Bay and Darling Harbour
*  The Sydney monorail including the major shopping areas
*  The Sydney Opera House
*  A stop at the seaside resort of Manly, famous for its surf beach and Norfolk pines

Be picked up from your hotel for touring to the Blue Mountains with the crisp clean mountain air and distant blue haze for viewing of the beautiful canyons. 
You will have the opportunity to ride the world's steepest Scenic Railway, at your own expense, as well as walk on the valley floor broadwalk under a canopy of tall tree ferns.
The tour then continues onto Echo Point to see the Three Sisters rock formation, and then a visit to an Australian Wildlife Park for the chance to meet Australia’s unique wildlife in a natural bush setting. You will get the chance to see over 2000 animals at close range, along with hand feeding of Kangaroos, experience an Emu encounter, walk through rainforest aviaries, see giant crocodiles and more

Be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Domestic Airport for your flight to Ayers Rock
On arrival in Ayers Rock you will pick up your hire car and drive yourself to your hotel for check in where you can have a chance to relax before departing your hotel in the afternoon for your Olgas and Ayers Rock Sunset Self Drive Tour. 
Experience the harsh outback on a visit to the massive series of domes known as Kata Tjuta, or the “Olgas”. Walk along the trail through the Olga Gorge following the natural creek and explore these unusual rock formations.
Arrive at the sunset viewing area of Ayers Rock, in the late afternoon to witness the striking colour changes that take place on the world’s largest monolith – Uluru, under the dusk desert sky.

DAY 7     AYERS ROCK – KINGS CANYON (304km)
 
Depart the hotel before sunrise this morning and self drive out to Uluru for the opportunity to view the sunrise over Ayers Rock and watch the first rays of sunlight creep across the desert plains from the special viewing area.  Experience the spectacular changing colours and the panoramic views before taking a leisurely walk around the base of Uluru.  Visit Mutitjulu Waterhole and Kantju Gorge where waterfalls cascade over the side of Uluru and take in many traditional rock art sites, sacred to the Anangu Aboriginal people. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre before departing on your self drive to Kings Canyon.
Travel along the Lassester highway and North along Luritja Road into the Watarraka National Park before arriving at the Kings Canyon Resort.

DAY 8     KINGS CANYON – ALICE SPRINGS (331km)
  
Depart the hotel this morning and self drive out to the Canyon for the opportunity to explore this spectacular chasm which has developed over millions of years.  Experience the beauty of Kings Canyon during a canyon rim walk which takes you on a rocky climb around the upper rim of the Canyon and includes the Garden of Eden and the Lost City. The huge sandstone walls rise up over 150 metres and offer stunning views of the vast central Australian desert plains. Alternatively you may wish to explore the boulder strewn Canyon floor - an easier, shady river walk which takes you to the Garden of Eden rockpool where in hotter months swimming is possible.  After exploring Kings Canyon travel back to meet the Lasseter Highway before joining the Stuart Highway at Erldunda.  Continue touring north through the vastness and the wild beauty of Australia’s outback via the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges and arriving into Alice Springs. Make your way to your hotel.

DAY 9     ALICE SPRINGS - CAIRNS
  
Spend the morning exploring the town of Alice Springs and take in many of the interesting highlights of this outback town such as the historic Old Telegraph Station, Royal Flying Doctors Service or the School of Air. Take the chance to experience panoramic views over the town of Alice from Anzac Hill Lookout before making your way to the Alice Springs Airport and dropping off your hire car for your flight to Cairns.
On arrival in Cairns be greeted by your local driver before transferring to your hotel, to have the rest of the afternoon at leisure

DAY 10     CAIRNS

Be picked up from the hotel this morning and transferred down to Marlin Jetty for your full day Reef Magic Cruise to Marine World on the Outer Great Barrier Reef .  Enjoy unlimited snorkelling with all equipment and instruction on the stunning pristine reef just metres from the platform.  Also on offer is the underwater observatory, marine biology presentation and interactive coral viewing vessel tours.  Lunch is a sumptuous hot and cold tropical smorgasbord with morning and afternoon teas also included.  An unforgettable day on the reef.
You will be transferred back to your hotel on arrival in Cairns.

Be picked up from your hotel this morning and transferred to the train station to board the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway winding through tunnels and crossing over bridges past Stoney Creek and Barron Falls to Kuranda – the village in the rainforest. Visit Rainforestation Nature Park where you will experience the rainforest on both land and water in the Army Duck, be captivated by the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers as they perform in the rainforest amphitheatre and join your guide on a Dreamtime Walk.  Relax over a tropical BBQ lunch featuring a hot buffet before gliding over the rainforest canopy aboard Skyrail Rainforest Cableway enjoying a bird’s eye view of pristine World Heritage Rainforest with stops at Barron Falls and Red Peak Stations.
You will be transferred back to your hotel
